Still catching up on these posts — it’s now Monday July 25 as I backfill this but am getting there :)

Sam had his first visitors on Saturday July 2.  We had to get special permission from the charge nurse to take him down to the main floor to meet his guests.  While there is a lovely play area/set of places to sit outside/spaces to hang out, the security folks have been pretty strict about who is able to go there. As a result, our first plan was to hang out in the entry way before the security station so that we don’t rock the boat too much. 

Sam’s first guests were his Aunt Beth, Uncle Scott, & cousin Emily. He was in very good spirits seeing them and had good energy (even though it was much less that’s the typical energy that Sam has had prior to having leukemia)..

2 of his high school/soccer friends came over on Sunday: Alec and Charlie. Sam was much lower energy so the visit was short. Alec brought some gifts: Xbox games, a book, and a funny shirt that they’d bought at the thrift store the day Sam was admitted to the ER. 

Sam is always uplifted by visits from friends and family, especially in person. Even if he is low energy, he always is filled up by the time with loved ones.
