May 1, 2023: Today and Thursday (Days +33 and +36)
Hope you all had a good weekend! The weather was really nice here. It was prom for Sam’s high school on Saturday and I saw the 12 (?!?!?!) busses as they were heading out to their destination and to be honest, was a bit melancholy that Sam wasn’t with them. But I know next year, he will be!
Today is his bone marrow aspirate so please send his bone marrow extra juju, karma, prayers, light, good wishes, vibes and all the good things! We are hoping it’s 100% B+ now (he was 0 negative before).
And Thursday he will get his boost of T Cells for the clinical trial we are on. We are super grateful to be on that trial as only 1 patient per month can participate due to limited clinical capacity and, while the N is tiny still, the results are promising: 7 out of 10 patients so far have seen their immune system reconstitute by day +60 where only 30% of post transplant patients would see that result before (that doesn’t mean that those patients’ immune systems are less likely to reconstitute, it just means the timeline is longer. And as far as we know, there are no “down sides” to being on this trial — the other 3 patients have progressed just not as quickly).
We’re on Day + 33 today.
And Sam is going to hike the dish for the first time post-transplant today with his friend Alec.
It’s gonna be a good week!
