Today we got to celebrate Sam’s buddy Max’s ringing the bell signifying his triumph over Burkitt’s Lymphoma!  There was a large assembly of family, friends, and medical staff at the Bass Center to share Max’s joy — as it should be. And we all had fun shirts to wear as well. 

Max was admitted for his diagnosis while Sam was admitted for graft vs. host disease back in May. Burkitt’s treatment uses similar medicines as Sam’s clinical trial, but the dosages require him to get these medicines in the hospital each time, so Max spent the majority of his summer at LPCH.

What an uplifting experience it was to celebrate this milestone with the Cook Family! We are eternally grateful that they are in our lives now and we treasure our friendships with them. 

And today is day +183 which is exactly half a year since Sam’s transplant!
