July 30, 2022: update from the hospital
Kathy traded off with John last night so is updating based on a few texts and a quick convo exchange this morning.
Sam is doing ok. He doesn’t sleep well in the hospital but then that is to be expected: too many beeping devices. The X-ray showed the port tube in its proper place, so that’s good. He did have lower than expected calcium, so they gave him some this morning. He’s also getting another pint of blood, but that was already scheduled from yesterday (we were just going to have to go into the Outpatient Clinic this morning to get it done). There have not been any more PVCs and he ate (and kept down!) a big meal of 2 mango tango rolls (shrimp tempura sushi — can’t have raw fish for awhile), 3 avocado rolls, and 2 servings of spicy garlic edamame. He was very happy!
and john was off foraging for some bagel and egg and probably sausage or bacon sandwiches when he called this morning so yay for that!
And it sounds like he will be discharged later this morning after rounds — yay!
Thank you all for your love and support. We are learning that while these admissions can be a bit jarring, they are better than being admitted for the entire 43 days and are really just opportunities to observe and make sure everything is copacetic (as my dear dad would say).
