April 6, 2023: 100 Day Challenge check in

Those of you who are doing this challenge, how’s it going?

If you haven’t joined in, it’s not too late.  Yours can be the 92 day challenge!  Read on! If you are already in and want to share an update, please do!

The idea is this: from now until July 7 (6 days shy of Sam’s 18th birthday ❤️)   do something daily that helps your mind, body, life, and/or spirit.  (They used to think that 100 days was a milestone for graft vs. host disease — but each recovery follows its own path so putting a deadline of sorts can mess with expectations.  So the “100 day rule” has been changed to focus on mind/body/spirit). 

But I still like the number and also the connection to building habits that we want over time. 

It doesn’t have to be elaborate — as our friend BJ Fogg talks about, tiny habits make great change.

Who’s in?  You can write it down here or just make the commitment to yourself, but make it something you can do for 99 days in a row.  I will check in on you every so often via this blog. Don’t feel bad if you miss a day — just do your best!

Does sitting on a plane answering emails count as doing something for one's mind/body/spirit?

I can hear the email sucking your spirit away as I read this — no bueno!
Get up and walk down the aisle of the plane a few times! Do some stretches on the plane in the galley (but don’t bother the flight attendants!).

My change is to do at least 10 mins of yoga each day. I used to practice but it’s been many, many, many moons (maybe 15 years?). So I am starting at the very beginning and remembering and giving my body time to remember too 👍🏼.

I have done that 6 out of 7 days but the day before I missed, I did 2 separate 10 minute sessions so I’m going to count it as 100%!

Gratitude journal going strong every day..Running everyday but today due to surgery ..no red meat!! Working less.. happy to report seeing less than 40 patients on 14 hour shifts this week ! very hard to say enough but got it done this week!! savoring family time and living in the moment ! Go team Sam !! You transform everyone!

Kathy - your yoga idea inspired me. I’ve been meaning to get back into it for ages. I know all the moves, so I just need to make it happen. I’m taking my cue from you and staring with 10 min a day at first. I will dedicate every practice to Sam!
